It depends if its a viral or bacterial infection. If its viral usually have clear discharge then nonpreserved artificial tears every 3-4 hours helps and cool compresses . Make sure to wash your hands a lot and wipe down surfaces with lysol or rubbing alcohol. If its bacterial usually with yellowish or greenish discharge then you may need antibiotic drops which you would need to see an eyecare professional to be prescribed these drops.
