It would depend on the pathogen that is being treated. In general, doctors often prescribe a sulfa antibiotic medication, but again it is dependent on the organism that is causing the infection. Urine specimen culture results are able to determine the pathogen. If you had a urine test done, you should ask your doctor what organism caused your infection.
