“What is the treatment for high bilirubin in adults?”
I was diagnosed with high bilirubin. What could be the cause? What are the treatment options?

Conjugated bilirubin (Direct) levels are seen in alcohol consumption, hepatitis, drug reaction, and autoimmune, pancreatitis, cancer as well as other disorders. Bilirubin test is used to check the liver and increase levels of bilirubin indicates liver disease. Levels greater than 15mg/dL start giving liver problems. High levels may indicate liver damage. Thank you.
There are several causes. Gilbert syndrome is a familial cause that can cause clinical jaundice episodes, but is otherwise benign. Excessive lysis of red blood cells is another cause; this can be due to an autoimmune disorder or a viral infection. Severe liver disease is another cause; the bilirubin itself is not a big problem, but liver dysfunction, including but not limited to cirrhosis, is a big problem that must be addressed.
