What medications to take for a sore throat?

I have a sore throat. What medications to take for a sore throat?

Gargle with warm salt water… soothing.
When I have a sore throat, I use Tylenol or Advil for pain relief.  I like to use plain Tussin (guafenacin) to thin secretions if I have post-nasal drip and saline nasal spray helps rinse mucus out too.  Usually a sore throat is caused by drainage from sinuses.  If you think allergies might be causing drainage, you can try an antihistamine like Claritin.
