Any organ can be affected, but the heart, kidneys, and brain are the most important ones.
Actually any and all organs can be affected by atherosclerosis. This condition causes plaque build up in the arterial supply to the organs. When this happens blood supply is diminished and organ damage can occur. The larger the artery the longer it can take to obstruct. So the smaller arteries become diseased first. The organ usually affected most often is the heart. However, this is a generalized disease.
