Open heart surgery is needed if stents can't be used. Diabetic patients who
have 3 vessel disease do better with surgery,
In general, the term Heart Blockage means one has blockages in the coronary artery blood supply to the heart muscles. For this one have to consider whether the patient needs to open the blockage or blockages by deploying stents or bypassing the blockages by surgery with surgical techniques ( open heart surgery) done by a Cardiac surgeon. This depends on the symptoms, severity of blockages and suitability of the patient’s status. Heart Block may also mean a blockage in the electrical conduction system inside the heart, which may result in a slow heart beat. In that case, an artificial Pacemaker may be recommended. Hope that answers the question. Thank you
