“What tests need to be done for a brain concussion?”
My friend hit his head badly and I think she had a concussion. What tests need to be done for a brain concussion?

Should be seen by provider. Can do an ACE form concussion score if the office has an eye box can test with that our office does if you are in Las Vegas. Symptoms of concussion some but not all would be: headache, nausea, memory loss, memory fog, sleeping too much, not sleeping at all, sensitive to light and noise, more emotional, more irritated to name a few. Should do a mini neuro check. To check for grips of both hands, pupils of eyes reactive, eyes should move in all directions and be able to follow object. Please take your friend to be evaluated. 85% of concussion go away by themselves but should be evaluated.
This may seem overly simple, but the most important things to do are have a physician perform a complete medical history and physical examination with a focus on the neurological examination. Depending on the physicians findings blood work and brain imaging may be indicated. It is also important to follow the physicians instructions if your friend is diagnosed with a concussion. There can be several activities that need to be stopped for a period of weeks and may seem a little odd, but the physician is trying to help your friend avoid causing any additional pressure on the brain. The brain is in an inclosed space, the skull. So, avoiding any additional swelling is very important. Elizabeth McNeill Byrd, MD "Perhaps we are all refugees from something..."
