Treatment for Pneumonia depends on the type of Pneumonia diagnosed. Also depends on the individuals preexisting conditions (if applicable). There’s viral pneumonia. There’s also bacterial pneumonia, there’s even Fungal pneumonia to name a few. They’re all treated according to the aforementioned features (and more).
If its not very severe, pneumonia can be treated as an outpatient visit for examination and a prescription. The choice of antibiotics often includes amoxicillin/clavulinate, Macrolides(erythromycin derivatives) and Quinalones such as levafloxcin. A usual course of treatment can be from 7-10 days, taking an antibiotic by mouth. Severe pneumonia requires inpatient care and a combination of intravenous antibiotics.
