When can I exercise after inguinal hernia surgery?

I had inguinal hernia surgery 6 days ago. I want to exercise. When can I exercise after inguinal hernia surgery?

You should always refer to your doctor. I ask my patients not to push, pull, or lift > 30 lbs for 6 weeks after surgery. Climbing stairs, bending over, walking, is fine.
My patients are not allowed to lift anything heavier than 5 lbs for 5 weeks.
You can, but also depends on how they repaired the inguinal hernia, open v laparoscopic or robotically. Open will have a longer down time than the other two.
Please discuss with Surgeon.
You can start light activity almost immediately, but I do not recommend strenuous activity for at least 2-4 weeks.
