If your coccyx (tailbone) pain has not improved in few weeks, you need to go to your health care provider for further evaluation. Usually, they will use radio imaging (X-rays, CT scan), to check for fractures and other problems such as pelvic fractures as well as organ damage. Thank you.

You should see a doctor, specifically a physiatrist--a PM&R specialist--who treats pain syndromes, if the following scenarios arise:
a) you develop worsening pain over a span of a few days
b) you develop fever, chills, or malaise
c) you develop bleeding, fluid drainage of any kind, warmth, redness or a wound of any kind
d) you develop a mass or growth

If your pain does not go away in several weeks or progressively getting worse, you need to see a qualified physician.
If you have any pain issues, it's always best to check it out when you get a chance. It may be small or part of a larger picture. Either way, pain is a way for your body to tell you that there is something wrong.
Hi you should see an MD to refer you to a specialist regarding tailbone pain right away—especially if this is giving you pain at night and keeping you from daily activities. I hope this helps, and feel free to reach out to me if you have further questions.
Tailbone pain is something that can be addressed with physical therapy. I specialize in treatment of different women's health related issues, tailbone pain being one of them. Please visit www.alignhealthgroup.com to learn more and book an appointment.
Hello, acute tailbone pain has over 80% chance to cure by applying coccygeal manipulation. I advise you to see PMR ASAP.
First try and get the pressure off of your tailbone (coccyx). There are a multitude of reasonably priced coccyx pillows available on the internet. These are mostly thick stadium style seat cushions with the back cut out so that there is very little pressure on your coccyx when you sit. Surgery to remove the coccyx is a last resort for when everything else has failed. The surgery to remove the coccyx is safe, simple, and effective on a patient who really needs that kind of surgery.
