When should you see an orthopedic surgeon for ankle pain?

I have ankle pain for already a week. When should you see an orthopedic surgeon for ankle pain?

As soon as possible. If you had X-rays taken elsewhere you should have them ready before your appointment. If not he will have to order new x-rays. If the radiographs are negative and you do have significant pain then he/she will usually ask for an MRI without contrast.
If the ankle bones are tender to palpation could be a bone fracture.If not is usually a ligament sprain.If swelling goes away promptly may be a minor problem.If lots of swelling or bruises make an appointment
