Hypertension should only be treated in conjunction with a physician.  There are many medicationoptions but an individual needs to have follow-up to make sure the BP has responded, the BP isnot to low and side effects of the meds are addressed so dosages can be adjusted or new meds can be added.
There is no "safest" medication. All of them have side effects and intended effects.
There is no such thing as safest. For hypertension, the best regimen is a combination of drugs. Your cardiologist should evaluate all the laboratory tests EKG and echocardiogram and come up with a cocktail of drugs that you may need to l Normalize your blood pressure good.
