If they are just beginning to appear, they a usually related to decay of the tooth. Acids from what you eat and drink and from bacteria using the food you eat to create an acid are dissolving tooth structure. Your saliva tries to buffer the acid and remineralize your tooth. Over time back and forth a white spot or sometimes a stain develops. Prevention is the best option. Drink water between meals because most other things people drink have an acidity that dissolves tooth structure. Limit sticky sugary and simple carbohydrate snacks, Floss before you brush with fluoride toothpaste before you go to bed, Visit your dental professional every six months for recare hygiene visits.
