Orthodontist Questions Orthodontist

Why do I have to wait 3 months every time my wires are changed on my braces?

As of my knowledge, most people had their braces changed every month or month and a half. However, since I have had my braces I have only had them changed every 3 months, why is this?

in my practice i use self locating braces... traditional braces need tightened every 4 weeks... self ligation brackets open and close like garage doors and do not require these frequent visits.... and less painful
This is a question you must ask your orthodontist. Every patient has a different situation based upon your age and growth status and the condition of your teeth and mouth. I suggest you ask your parent or legal guardian to have a meeting with you and the treating orthodontist to discuss his/her treatment plan for you and ask him/her this question.
My guess is that you’re not going to a regular orthodontist. If you are, I’ve never heard of 3-month intervals either.
The thing is, you cannot compare yourself to others. Every person has a different experience when it comes to medical care. When doctors talk about how long something should take or what level things should be, they are talking based on averages and experience…. Every patient is different because every person is different. So, your wire changes may be at a different timing than someone else…. Trust your orthodontist knows what they are doing or switch to someone you do trust.
