Why do children of abuse have speech issues?

I am a 22 year old female. I want to know why do children of abuse have speech issues? This could be from experiencing or witnessing abuse.

Abuse causes emotional trauma. A child needs a nurturing environment to develop. Abuse can cause all sorts of problems especially stuttering. Also, language to develop needs mutual interaction. Often abused children are not given the opportunity to carry on a wholesome conversation which can affect language development. There are children who in spite of abuse develop good speech and language. There are individual differences.
Hi,

There could be a number of reasons that contribute, including a social emotional delay, or anxiety. A speech language evaluation or developmental assessment would be good for children who have experienced abuse in the past.
