Why do heart attacks cause chest pain?

I am a 47 year old female. I want to know why do heart attacks cause chest pain?

1 Answer

Heart attacks are caused by decreased blood supply in the heart, which creates decreased oxygenation and eventually dead muscle. The heart is a sensory organ, meaning that it contains sensory nerves, which will be activated by poor oxygenation and that will cause chest pain.
