No an ingrown toenail will not fix his self. However, surgical intervention may be necessary where removal of the offending painful ingrown margin(s) may be necessary and permanent resolution for the ingrown toenail condition. If having recurrent ingrown toenails issues then it would be advisable to have permanent removal of the margin(s) of the affected toe. Taking oral antibiotic medications, applying topical antibiotic ointment, and/or Epson salt foot soaks only treats the acute infection and they don't resolve the ingrown toenail margin(s) issue permanently. Therefore recommend seek professional care of the foot specialist for evaluation and treatment of the ingrown toenail problem.
No, and you should not try any form of self treatment. You should be examined and treated by a Board Certified Podiatric Physician and Surgeon who is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
Hi! I would recommend seeing a podiatrist for an evaluation and further information. Sometimes if shoes or socks are too tight can cause pressure and pain and when that's alleviated the ingrown can be resolved.
Sometimes, if you are able to get the offending nail border out. But a lot of times, particularly when there is infection, you need to see a specialist to have the problem addressed
