I am a psychologist without prescription privileges, which means I do not prescribe medications to patients. Some people with panic attacks take medications to assist which are oftentimes anxiolytics or antidepressants. However, treatment is oftentimes best treated with psychotherapy and medications as medications alone tend to mask the issue, and the panic attacks tend to return when medications are discontinued.
I like soothing SSRI with panic attacks.
Talk to your doctor and find the SSRI that is not as activating to help sooth your anxiety.
Hope that helps.
