Wrong heavy lifting?

Ii was leaning forward and lifted a box that was kind of heavy and I heard a popping sound around my stomach area just below my rib cage. It caused a painful bump to appear.

There are a couple of things that may cause this. The first would be a hernia. You may have pulled a muscle. I strongly recommend you be seen by the urgent care or emergency department to be safe.
Hello there. I'm not diagnosing you with this information, but it sounds like you may have an abdominal hernia perhaps. I would consult an MD before seeking Chiropractic care to rule that out first. Hope i helped. Got your back! Dr. Todd Gewant
Hello, always be careful when lifting, keep weight close to body, use your legs, not your back. The bump may be a hernia, if this persists, make an appointment with a doctor ASAP.
You may have strained an abdominal muscle or caused an abdominal hernia. If the bump is pretty big, it is probably a hernia. You should see a physician as soon as possible to make sure that if it is a hernia, it is not getting strangulated. Does the bump get bigger when you increase abdominal strain like doing a situp? If it does, it's probably a hernia. I hope you find this info helpful. Take care and be well.
This is possibly a hernia. It may take surgery to fix but it sounds like a case for a surgeon.
That sounds like a torn muscle and a possible abdominal hernia. See your M.D. ASAP.

This sounds awful. The pop was most likely nitrogen being released from one or multiple joints. The lump could be torn soft tissue (muscle, ligament, tendon) or it could be fluid from micro-tears or trauma to the area.
