Are contact lenses safe for eyes?

I am a 19 year old female. I want to start wearing contact lenses. Are contact lenses safe for eyes?

Yes
Contact lenses are usually a safe and effective form of vision correction. However, they are not entirely risk-free, especially if they are not cared for properly. Contact lenses are medical devices, and failure to wear, clean, and store them as directed can increase the risk of eye infections.

Contact lenses are evaluated by the FDA and must pass tests to ensure safety and efficacy. Still, they do carry risks best discussed with the prescribing physician.

Contact lenses are safe as long as you have a proper fitting, follow wearing, cleaning and infection prevention guidelines; and only after a thorough complete eye exam by an ophthalmologist or optometrist who determines your suitability and the type contact lens recommended.
Usually, but you need to be checked and followed by an eye health professional during the time that you wear contact lenses

As long as you take care of them correctly, they are safe.

In most cases, yes, with proper use. An examination and continuing care with an eye doctor (Optometrist or Ophthalmologist) is required to determine your candidacy, perform your fitting and supervise your use.
Yes, as long as they are properly fit and you follow wearing and cleaning instructions carefully, contact lenses are generally safe. There is always some small risk of infection from contact lens wear. Symptoms of redness, pain or blurred vision could indicate infection, so contact lenses should be removed immediately if these occur, and you should contact your eye doctor if it does not resolve within 2-3 hours after removal.

Contact lenses are safe for most eyes. The doctor that prescribes the contacts will check your eye health and determine your suitability for them.
