Are contact lenses safe to use?

I am a 24-year-old male who is considering getting contacts. Are they safe to use?

If used and cleaned correctly they are safe. It is important to follow your doctor's instructions on hygiene and replacement schedule to avoid infections.
They are very safe assuming they are properly fitted by an optometrist, disposed off on a regular schedule as prescribed, disinfected properly, and always removed before sleep, showering, and swimming.
Yes, if you take them out every night before going to bed.
Contact lenses are safe so long as you don’t sleep with them.

If properly fitted, if the wearer adheres to the wearing time, absolute cleanliness in storage and handling, and if the wearer has been instructed on when to stop the contact lens and contact the prescribing ophthalmologist, then contact lenses are safe. Poor hygiene, keeping two week disposables for a month of wear, ignoring irritation or other symptoms, are all risky behaviors for a contact lens wearer and could lead to serious eye conditions, some sight threatening.
Yes, if you use them as directed and never sleep in them
Usually safe if you are careful with hygiene.
