“Are tooth implants safe?”
I'm thinking about getting a dental implant for one of my missing teeth. Are these safe? Are there any side effects from tooth implants?

Generally they are safe but many people prefer non-metallic implants such as zirconia ceramic. Read more on www.implantsmetalfree.com
Last I checked, about 1% of the population is allergic to the titanium used in dental implants. Titanium implants are stronger than zirconia implants. This is currently the most reliable replacement of missing teeth. For single tooth replacements, there is about a 98% success rate for dental implant therapy.
Make sure the surgeon or dentist placing them has had sufficient experience placing implants. Furthermore, the use of a CT scan (3D xray) is recommended prior to the placement of the implant.

Done properly, they are 100% safe. The only time it's not a good idea is when an immunocompromised patient or a smoker has them. As long as you're healthy and have good oral hygiene, they are perfectly safe.
Dental implants are very safe, and now are the standard of care for missing teeth. They feel and look very natural and last a very long time if you take care of your health.

Dental implants, when properly placed by properly trained professionals, are a very safe and predictable way to replace a missing tooth or teeth. There are no “side effects” such as allergic reactions as they are made from titanium which is the same material as knee and hip replacements. I have been restoring dental implants for more than 25 years and have seen very few failures when they are placed and restored by excellent practitioners and properly maintained by the patients.
