Are vasectomies painful?

I'm sure I never want to have children, so this definitely seems like the best option for me. Is it painful to get a vasectomy?

Local anesthesia is given. At times, the procedure is performed under sedation in an outpatient center. Most people tolerate it with just numbing medicine. If pain is a major concern, discuss it with your doctor for options.
Consider a minor procedure done under local anesthesia mostly in the office. It may be tender for a few days.
