“Can IUDs cause cystitis?”
I would like to get an IUD because that seems like the safest birth control. But I have had long-term problems with a susceptibility to getting cystitis. Can IUDs cause cystitis?

IUD’s are placed on n the uterus. Cystitis occurs in the bladder. Usually, an IUD does not cause an infection or inflammation in the bladder.
As a general rule while IUDs can sometimes increased vaginal discharge since the strings are a foreign body in my experience they do not increase bladder infections. Some women her more prone to bladder infections for various reasons but I would not view an IUD as a risk to increase your frequency of bladder infections. Certainly discuss with her medical provider before placing to get their thoughts and input as well.
