Can a child with sensitive gums get braces or Invisalign?

My 10 year old son has sensitive gums. I want him to get braces though. Can a child with sensitive gums get braces?

yes
I would not recommend it. The reason is that you are trying to give your son a better smile, but if he is experiencing sensitivity, the standard of care is to treat the sensitivity followed by braces.
The answer would depend on what the cause for the sensitivity is. If the reason for the sensitive gums is poor hygiene, then it wouldn't be a good idea to put braces on AT LEAST until oral hygiene habits are improved...otherwise it could become a nightmare with decay and decalcification and/or periodontal problems. Also, depending on how many primary teeth are still present (most 10 year olds still have several), it may be a little too early to start with braces anyway unless you want the braces to be on months and months longer than necessary because you're waiting for the eruption of the last permanent teeth! I like to wait until most of the adult teeth have erupted so the braces don't have to be on longer than necessary.
Usually, yes. Figure out why the gums are sensitive. It usually has to do with poor hygiene.
I recommend finding out why the gums are sensitive. Is your child allergic to something he is using or eating? Does he have good brushing and flossing habits? I do not recommend putting braces on if there is anything suspicious going on on with him. Please follow up with your primary dentist for an evaluation prior to having orthodontic treatment.

A 10 year old should not have sensitive gums and it is not normal at any age. It is an oral hygiene problem or dietary allergic response that must be resolved before any kind of orthodontic correction begins.
