Yes, acupuncture can help lower fever. It’s important to discern if the fever is acute or been there for a while, and the gradient of the fever. Fever can very possibly be a result of COVID-19 infection/illness, in which case it’s best to seek medical attention at a large institution like the hospital. If the fever is acute and considerably high, it’s better to take medications to lower the fever, and if it’s low grade and chronic, it’s best to figure out what’s causing the fever - which can be a plethora of things and would each require very different treatment.
During a pandemic, I will not be treating anyone with a fever. Please isolate yourself to avoid giving it to others.
Acupuncture does not treat symptoms, but helps the body support its own healing. Some fevers are how the body heals itself, so it is not good to stop the process unless the fever becomes extreme (i.e., spikes fast to 102, etc.). Then an intervention is needed for the fever. Instead, we look at the underlying cause of the fever and treat that, like boosting the immune system (called wei qi in TCM). When people overheat or have a spiking fever there are protocols for treating this as long as it is not a serious underlying condition that requires a medical intervention. Acupuncture works best when the condition is treated early.
We can choose some acupuncture points and make bleeding to reduce fever immediately. We also need to find out what reason caused the fever and treat it. We use acupuncture and herbs, they work very well. It is dangerous, though; if someone has a high fever, headache, and vomiting, they need to go to the emergency room.
Yes, it can but depends on what is the cause. If the situation is not critical and doesn't need urgent care we use Acupuncture.
Good morning,
If you have a fever, you should go see your family doctor to find out the cause before you see an acupuncturist.

Fevers might be able to be treated with acupuncture, but I don't know how. You might call around and see if anyone in your area knows how to do it. Otherwise, a fever below 101 degrees is actually helpful in that it's your body's way of killing pathogens and helping you get well.

I can not point to any study to demonstrate that it works, but I have treated people with acute viral infections causing fever with great success and expedited healing time.
Yes. It is better combining suction cupping for fever. The fever can resolve instantly based on my 35 years of experience.
Absolutely. This is a very poignant and effective treatment. That said, if you have a high fever for up to 3 hours, you will need to bring it down yourself because you do not want to sustain a fever over 103 degrees for longer than that. The most effective way to do so at home would be to suck on ice or a popsicle.
Thank you for your inquiry! Yes, acupuncture can treat a fever! When I use needles to treat patients who have a fever, it's actually very effective; after only a one-time treatment (1 hour), the patient's fever went down to normal.
