“Can a sinus infection go away on its own?”
I am 23 year old female and I have a long-lasting sinus infection. Can a sinus infection go away on its own?

Yes. Many sinus infections go away on their own. That is why as a rule a doctor does not prescribe antibiotics until the signs and symptoms of a sinus infection have been present for some time. But some people can develop chronic sinus infections which can persist for very long periods of time (even years).
The majority of sinus infections and inflammations are temporary and presumed secondary to an acute viral incident. Bacterial infections are infrequent and for the most part sinus symptoms can be alleviated with the use of topical saline irrigations.
