Can a viral fever last 7 days?

My son is 10 years old and he has a viral fever. I want to know can a viral fever lasts 7 days?

Yes it certainly can. If he feels worse with more fatigue or fevers getting higher, then you would consider it possibly bacterial.
Yes, but that is not common. Usually the fever will last 3-4 days with a virus. If it has been over 5 days, you may want to take him to get blood work done.
Yes, it can.
Thank you for your question. There are viral infections that can cause a prolonged fever. I usually advise patients though, if the fever lasts more than 3 days, especially if high grade >103 and if your child looks ill, then further tests may be required to check for blood borne infection.
Hope this helps. Stay safe.
