“Can acupuncture cure food allergies?”
I am a 28 year old female with food allergies like shellfish. Can acupuncture cure food allergies?

there is a treatment called NAET that helps with food allergies. Find someone trained in it and they can help you
You need to see your family doctor first and ask him (her) to refer you to see the professional licensed acupuncture.
I believe you would need to find a specialist who works specifically with treating allergies with acupuncture to effectively answer this question. Also, acupuncturists aren't really supposed to say that we can "cure" anything. A shellfish allergy is very serious. some acupuncturists specialize in treating this and I wouldn't advise seeing anyone who doesn't have that specialty.

It is not something I personally would assume acupuncture would help with.
Acupuncture does not cure anything, it helps to harmonize and balance your body so it can heal itself more efficiently.
Yes, acupuncture can cure food allergies. It will not be done in just a few treatments. The acupuncturist will have to monitor the progress after each treatment in order to implement and change treatment plan. Sometimes, it will need herbal formula to help.
Thank you for your question. A true shellfish food allergy cannot be cured with acupuncture. Because a shellfish allergy can be life-threatening, it would be unethical to test this theory out.

Yes. The American Academy of Medical Acupuncture endorses the use of acupuncture for food allergies. Acupuncture can help to restore normal immune function.
Hi there,
Thank you for your question. While acupuncture has been known to ameliorate a variety of imbalances, due to conflicts of interest, we are unable to say “cure.” In my clinical experiences, allergies seem a complicated cocktail of variables.

Frequently, you can assist the body in balancing the immune system. Eastern medicine and acupuncture as part of Eastern medicine works great with that regard and your question in mind. Eastern medicine in WA State is 22 listed medical procedures per scope. Cure is not a word I use in my office as, given the choice and chance to heal combining both Eastern and Western medicine....Profoundly amazing results. That is doable.

Hi,
Acupuncture helps with food allergies by strengthening the digestive organ functions and helps to reduce related symptoms. Please consult your local acupuncturist.

Acupuncture can help with the symptoms, but you will also need herbal formulas to cure certain allergies.
To cure is a very bold statement. A detailed examination can reveal a lot. In acupuncture, we have a very comprehensive way to approach a problem since we look at the person as a whole. You should make an appointment.
It is a complex issue for a food allergy. I don't believe acupuncture alone will resolve the problem.
Theoretically, yes. I personally have not treated anyone for food allergies, but I have treated many people with seasonal and respiratory allergies with success. Since they have the same basic understanding in Chinese medicine, acupuncture should be able to help. If you choose to try acupuncture to treat your food allergies, DO NOT try the foods on your own. Instead, work with your doctor(s) and blood tests to test it's efficacy.
There is a treatment protocol that helps eliminate allergies, I have personally treated people who had shellfish and nut allergies as well as dairy and grain allergies. If it is truly an allergy you should find someone who is familiar with NAET or who has had success with allergies and you can take care of it fairly quickly.
Be sure to find a licensed acupuncturist that you feel comfortable with - there are a few to choose so call around like you would a hair stylist or other professional.
Good luck.

Depends on the severity of the allergies. It wont cure it, but it may help the body regulate the symptoms of allergies such as itching and rashes. If your allergies are severe, where you may develop anaphylaxis (facial edema and difficult breathing). Please avoid the allergen (food) all together.
"Cure" is a very loaded word - technically it's an FDA regulated word, so I'm not going to be referencing it.
A lot is going to depend on how severe the food allergy is. Generally, when I have a patient with food allergies I recommend avoiding the food items that cause problems.
Acupuncture can help to reduce inflammation and relieve the digestive upset food allergies may cause. Over time, if the allergy is mild, the patient may be able to return to eating the food some of the time. If it's a serious allergy though, even with acupuncture, it's best to avoid the allergy provoking substance.
