It can be helpful to some people in addition to TENS electronical stimulation as well as Aqua therapy. Also addressing any muscle imbalances by a Physical Therapist setting you up on a Home Exercise Program.
Yes, acupuncture can help with chronic knee pain, but it depends on what's causing it. You might also try eliminating gluten from your diet because it causes inflammation in most people, and try fish oil and/or glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM.

Yes. Acupuncture often helps with chronic knee pain. It may take some time and several treatments, as well as some herbal supplements and diet/lifestyle changes, but yes.
I’m not sure about acupuncture, but I know for sure that a physical therapist who is dry needling certified can definitely improve your pain.
Acupuncture is used to treat acute and chronic pain. Based on your current condition, acupuncture might be beneficial to reduce your knee pain.

Hi,
Acupuncture can help with chronic knee pain for any reason, unless there is a major torn meniscus. Please consult your local acupuncturist.

Good afternoon,
Acupuncture does help chronic pain, but talk to your acupuncture practitioner because the length of treatment depends on the patient's chief complaint.

Acupuncture is one of the longest practiced medicine in the world. It is very effective in treating pain and chronic disease. I have been treating a 75 year old lady who is 60 Ibs overweight who is suffering from severe knee pain. The doctors recommended for her to go for a knee replacement surgery. Her primary told her to go see me. After 5 sessions, the pain was gone and she decided to cancel the surgery. There is scientific research that was done on the subject:

Thank you for your question,
With respect osteoarthritic knee pain there is good evidence that acupuncture can help. Not only acupuncture, but acupuncture with electrical stimulation can be helpful where a very small current is put through the needles. Something to discuss with your acupuncturist. I recommend an integrative management plan that combines acupuncture, myofascial release, and physical therapy.

According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), a number of studies suggest that acupuncture works particularly well on chronic pain such as back and neck pain; osteoarthritis/knee pain; and headache. It often reduces the incidence and severity of tension headaches and may prevent migraines. “Therefore,” the NIH concludes <http://nccih.nih.gov/health/acupuncture/introduction>, “acupuncture appears to be a reasonable option for people with chronic pain to consider.”
Yes, though it will likely take some time before you feel lasting results. The longer a condition has been in existence, the longer it will take to resolve. This is a normal process in every form of medicine that requires peeling away the layers that have developed over time.
We must investigate and see why you are having chronic pain. That being said, I can tell you that Acupuncture is very good and efficient to deal with pain.
Be well, be confident, we can help.

I work with pain patients all the time. Acupuncture is very effective for all types of pains. With chronic pain, you may need to come in a few times a week to start and then as the treatments hold you can reduce treatments to weekly, then monthly than as needed.
Be sure to find a licensed practitioner in your area (an L.Ac) and if your first choice doesn't help you can always find another practitioner. Remember that an acupuncturist is like any other service provider - find one you like who works well with your condition.
Good luck.
