Chiropractor Questions Neck Pain

Can a chiropractor break your neck?

I'm going to go to a chiropractor for my chronic neck pain, but I'm actually really nervous for it. This happened after watching adjustment videos online. Is it possible for a chiropractor break your neck? Or does this not happen often?

A professional chiropractor with great palpation skills would do it with out farther injury.
I have not heard of any cases where a chiropractor broke the neck of one of their patients. Injuries can occur but usually it is due to underlying issues. My experience has been at times there is soreness after manipulation but the vast majority of the time it is relief of pain or symptoms.
Well I have been in this business over 40 years and have never heard of someone breaking a neck. It is safe and so good for you. There are some soreness after the first or second adjustment but the prognosis is awesome and healthy!!! Cannot believe everything you read as the medical profession, (most of them) hate chiropractic because we get people well and healthy without drugs or surgery.
Sure it's possible. Anything is possible but I will say this. It's very highly unlikely that a state board certified chiropractor in your area will doing anything to harm you let alone, "break your neck". In my 20+ years of professional experience, i have never heard of a case where a chiropractor broke one of their patient's neck. that is why I said that it's highly unlikely.
This is a question you should really ask your chiropractor. He has a little knowledge to help you. First, it is very, very hard for anyone to break a bone. So, if you are asking, can a chiropractor break your neck, are you asking about breaking your vertebrae (bones) in your neck? To this question, the answer would be NO. In order to break your neck, the chiropractor would have to rip through muscles, ligaments, and tendons before there is even stress on the bony structures. Then, there would have to be such force administered to break bones. Videos online can be very misleading; knowing the anatomy and force along with torque would better educate you on this question. You also have to look for the credentials of those administering the adjustment.
I hope this helps answer your question.
A trained Doctor of Chiropractic is not Odd-Job; they will not "break your neck." You are safe. To my knowledge, it has not happened.
If mishandled, anyone can break your neck.... A chiropractor has several years of training before they are even licensed. They must prove themselves with national exams as well as a doctorate degree in order to be able to work on another person. Some may be more aggressive than others, but the bottom line is your neck is in good hands. A chiropractor will not break your neck. If you are concerned, make sure you mention this to your chiropractor and they can recommend or perform gentler maneuvers than the traditional movement you can see on YouTube videos.
Very doubtful! It's more dangerous taking medications!
Chiropractic adjustments are very safe and much more gentle than they look on video. The sound you hear is gas being released from the joints, not bones cracking. If you are uncomfortable with that particular therapy, talk to your Chiropractor about an alternative method.
