“Can colon cancer be cured with a surgery?”
My friend has been diagnosed with colon cancer. The doctor has started his treatment for it, however, I would like to know if it can be cured with colon surgery?

Depending on the stage, there is a high chance for cure
Surgery is the only way to cure colon cancer usually but it depends on the stage (how far it has spread). Stage 4 or cancer that has spread through out the body is typically treated with chemotherapy. Anything short of that typically gets surgery first.
Depending on the stage of the disease, it can be. Earlier stages can be cured with surgery alone. If later staged, then chemotherapy and surgery may be necessary. Refer to NCCN colon cancer for more details.
As long as the cancer has not spread beyond the area that is removed, there is the potential for cure. The chance of cure is greatest when the tumor is confined to the colon wall, but it can still be cured if advanced as long as all the visible cancer is removed.
