“Can a CT scan show liver damage?”
A blood test showed that my liver function was normal, but now my doctor wants me to have a CT scan to see if there is any damage. Is this an effective test for this?

Can a CT scan detect liver damage? Imaging tests: An ultrasound, CT scan, and MRI can show liver damage. Tissue analysis: Removing a tissue sample (biopsy) from your liver may help diagnose liver disease and look for signs of liver damage.
With so called liver damage, the most common radiographic finding is so called fatty infiltration of the liver parenchyma. This can easily be seen with both liver ultrasound as well as with a CT scan. As ultrasound is quicker, cheaper, and lacks ionizing radiation associated with CT scanning, it is the best first initial test. If the ultrasound confirms an abnormality, then this could be followed up with a CT scan.
Hope this helps clarify this a little bit.
