Pulmonologist Questions Exercise

Can exercise cause one to cough?

I just began exercising seriously, and every time I run, I start coughing pretty hard. Can exercise cause one to cough like this? I don't usually have issues breathing like this.

Yes. If you have undiagnosed asthma or if you have exercise-induced asthma, then you can have a cough when you exercise.
Most likely you have exercise induced asthma. Taking albuterol inhaler 15-30 minutes before the exercise will help
Has the possibility of cough equivalent asthma, which could very well be exercise induced, been considered?

Exercise can cause a cough if the person exercising has asthma or a few other types of lung disease (obstructive). Often you will hear both wheezing and coughing, and the person may feel out of breath.
