“Can fibromyalgia be cured?”
I am a 25 year old female who has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Is fibromyalgia curable?

Fibromyalgia is a treatable illness
There is no cure but it is generally accepted that the chronic pain is due to central pain sensitization, which means that ongoing pain signaling by brain and spinal cord is not dampened by normal brain inhibitory signals
Treatment includes patient education, exercise, yoga, tai chai, cognitive behavioral therapy, and physical therapy
Symptom-based treatments include Cymbalta, Lyrica, Gabapentin and Savella
You should be able to get relief with this approach

By definition, fibromyalgia is not a disease that has a cure. It symptoms, however, can be controlled or minimized with lifestyle changes, medications and/or psychotherapy.
NO--fibromyalgia is NOT curable. But, in many people it runs its course in a few years and can markedly improve or even disappear. Until then, one must stick to the lifestyle modifications that may help(sleep, rest, exercise, stresss mgmt, etc) and maybe take medications like acetominophen, NSAIDS, amitryptaline, pregabalin, and/or low dose opiates for really severe piain.
