“Can oil pulling remove hard plaque?”
I am a 23 year old male. I wonder if oil pulling can remove hard plaque?

No, calculus (harden, mineralized plaque) won't be removed by pulling. Oil pulling will remove some loose debris, but even soft plaque is pretty firmly attached and needs to be removed by mechanical means -- brushing and flossing. The change you see in the oil after pulling is mostly from oxygenating the oil as you force it through the spaces, not plaque removal
It may help, however, are you willing to hold oil in your mout 5-10 minutes many days? Why are you thinking about this idea? One visit to dentist office will be better and easier
Oil pulling is a still a controversial topic and lacks scientific research. Online searches on several different databases display a lot of evidence on oil pulling therapy but majority are based on personal participation. Hence, oil-pulling therapy with edible oils such, as sesame, sunflower or coconut oil cannot be recommended as an adjunct as of now.
Good afternoon,
That is a great question, Unfortunately oil pulling will not remove hard plaque, but some people feel it is good for bad breath. It won't hurt anything to try, it just has limitations.
Have a great day!
Thank you

Hi,
Unfortunately, when plaque has become hard, oil pulling will not remove it.
Hope this helps,

Hard plaque cannot be removed by oil pulling. You'll need to see a dental professional - either a dentist or hygienist - to have a proper dental cleaning!

Plaque is soft, tartar is hard. Oil pulling cannot remove either. A toothbrush removes the soft plaque.
