Can saltwater rinsing cause sloughing?

Can saltwater rinsing cause sloughing? I started doing the rinse about a week ago and I've been waking up with white stringy sloughing. The toothpaste and mouthwash I use haven't changed. I have been having dental problems lately, which is why I started doing the saltwater rinse. There has been a slight burning/ tingling sensation on the inside of my mouth (mostly the left side) as well.

I would say it is possible, sounds like you are using too much salt. Try 8 oz. glass of warm water with just a quick shake of salt. Rinse for 30 seconds and spit it out. Hope it helps.
How much salt are you using? The correct proportion is 1/2 tsp per 12 oz warm water. Too much salt is not good for your oral tissues.
