Can stress cause red eyes?

I am a 27 year old male. I have been really stressed lately and have bloodshot eyes. Can stress cause red eyes?

Some have sensitive systems in their face and eyes. This is seen as flushing and/or blushing which is psychogenic and not due to pathology. The eyes can respond in this way. Treatment is not necessary.
Maybe you are not getting enough sleep and getting dry eyes.
Yes, but you should rule out infection, etc.

It's possible, if stress elevates blood pressure.
Not directly, typically. But stress causes cortisone increase in the body lowering immune defenses. That may lead to an infection, and increase dryness. Sometimes it disrupts immune regulation and makes allergic reaction to a common antigen more likely.
