“Can a toothache go away on its own?”
I am a 19-year-old girl and I've had a toothache for as long as a week. Can a toothache go away on its own? Should I see a doctor?

YES, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE OKAY! If the pain goes away it usually means the nerve/pulp inside the tooth has died. Unfortunately this dead tissue is a perfect place for bacteria to hide and grow and if this dead pulp becomes infected in the future or the bacteria that caused the problem in the first place spread into the pulp chamber (and the likelihood is high) you will have an abscessed tooth and a much worse situation. You should see a good dentist who does Endodontics ASAP,
The simple answer is NO! It will only get worse and cost more money in the long run ---- if at that time someone can still save the tooth from being removed.
Yes you should. Pain can go away, but that does not mean the problem is gone. If the nerve "dies" the nerve tissue will decay an may cause an infection later on.
If you have a toothache you need attention. Dental problems only get worse without treatment and never better.
You should absolutely see a Dentist and have that diagnosed. Even if the pain goes away, the problem that caused the pain initially probably did not. As an example, early infected teeth hurt a lot, but after a while hurt less and less. Nevertheless, the infection continues on destroying the tooth and bone around the tooth. Have that checked out.
I recommend that you make an appointment to see a dentist for the following reasons: you have been in discomfort for a week and the pain doesn’t appear to be subsiding; it needs to be determined why you are having the pain that you are experiencing, and once the source of the pain has been identified, have necessary treatment to eradicate the pain. Yes, pain can go away. However, it may reoccur, so it is best to see a dentist to determine why you are having pain.
Usually, when a tooth hurts, it indicates it needs to be evaluated. Sometimes a tooth can start hurting on sudden impact of food or severe sensitivity, but it resolves in a day or two. But, if the tooth is still hurting after a week, you want to have a professional look at it before it worsens.
Well, a toothache will eventually go away, but that would be due to the nerve slowly dying inside the tooth. Unfortunately, with teeth, the pain sensation is not the only factor to go by because the decay process will continue even if there is no pain (the mouth has so many bacterial components constantly attacking the tooth structure). It would be better to have the tooth looked at by a dentist so that an X-ray can be taken to see what the real damage is and figure out a treatment plan for it.
With time the ache can go away, but it is best to see a doctor and get medication for the infection. Eventually the pain will come back and you will have to get the tooth extracted or a root canal.
Toothaches are usually caused when the decay gets into the nerve, and the infection then becomes an abscess. The pain may go away for short periods of time but it will always come back until the tooth is either treated with a root canal or is extracted. You definitely need to see a dentist as soon as possible and get on some antibiotics to start clearing up the infection. Even though it will feel better in a couple of days with the antibiotics, the pain will eventually come back, and usually worse, until some sort of treatment is done.
