Anesthesiologist Questions Anesthesiologist

Can you catch a disease from anesthesia?

My 14 year old son needs his appendix removed soon. I am still worried about the virus. Can you catch a disease from anesthesia?

Absolutely not. However that does not mean you could not be infected by a staff member in the facility you are having a procedure at.
NO.
No, anesthesia does not cause infections

Never say never in medicine. With current precautions, very highly unlikely.
Coronavirus is a major concern. You could get it in an operating room during a procedure. Now we include this risk in our consent.
It would be extremely unlikely to catch a disease from getting anesthesia. There have not been any cases worldwide of COVID-19 related to anesthesia. Believe me, many of the anesthesiologists are more worried about the virus than you are, so they take many precautions. I would not worry about it at all. You should go ahead with the procedure.
