What causes skin darkening in the neck region?

I am suffering from dark patches of skin around my neck region. What could be the reason for this? I also have been suffering from PCOD, are the two connected?

Dark patches around the neck is seen in obesity as early sign of diabetes. PCOS is also sen in overweight woman. Consultation with your physician if your worried
It could be obesity, diabetes or other factors.
There are multiple reasons for darkness around the neck. Chronic skin conditions like eczema or chronic itching and scratching can cause changes. Chronic contact dermatitis as well.
In relation to PCOS, and if your sugar is elevated, it can help contribute to acanthosis nigrans. This is thickening and darkening around the neck.

Yes, the two can be connected. It sounds like you might have acanthosis nigricans. This is caused from an increase in androgenic hormones. Usually, if you can get the
hormone levels under control, the condition will improve.

Thank you,

Yes, hormones can cause similar problems but taking certain type of medication can cause higher sensitivity to the sun and some disease conditions can also cause this sensitivity. Best advise is to consult a dermatologist as soon as you can.
