Hematologist-Oncologist Questions Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

How likely is a child to survive leukemia?

My friends son was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia recently and has started his treatment. But I've never heard of this form of leukemia before. Is this a rare type of leukemia? And what's the likelihood of survival for it?
