“Can a counselor help me get over my depression due to my divorce?”
I had a very turbulent marriage that just ended about a week back. This divorce has made things more difficult for me than what I had imagined. I feel very depressed and get very negative thoughts often. Should I visit a counselor to deal with this better?

I hear how much you're struggling with the end of your marriage. I would definitely recommend seeing a therapist. It is often very helpful to have extra support and a non-judgemental, impartial listening ear during these major life transitions.
Absolutely. A divorce can be a very traumatic experience, and having someone walk through those emotions and help you process will be the first step in moving into a new season of life.
Whether a divorce is a mutual agreement and somewhat peaceful, or turbulent like you mentioned, there is still a sense of loss. The feelings you are describing are a typical and normal response to a life event like divorce. A counselor can most certainly help you through your situation and assist you with managing those negative thoughts and feelings. A counselor can be a neutral and non-judgmental person that you express your feelings and concerns to and help guide you in your next steps.
