“My mother is dealing with fluid retention in her body despite taking lasix. What can she do?”
My mother is 70 years old and is suffering from CKD. She has been on lasix for the last 6 months, but her fluid retention is still very high. What could be the reason?

1. May not be on enough dose of Lasix.
2. May not be on fluid restriction and low salt diet.
3. Any congestive heart failure??
4. Taking medications like ibuprofen, aleve, naproxen etc(NSAIDS)
5. Make sure liver function and thyroid function etc ok

Possible reasons: Lasix of 60 mgrs is probably not enough for the degree of kidney failure, CKD is probably type IV or V. Excessive intake of salt . Excessive intake of fluid. Progression of Disease causing the Kidney Failure, associated problems such as heart failure, liver disease
It depends on the stage of CKD. Also, she should limit her fluids and salt intake while on diuretics for leg swelling.
