Internist Questions Chronic Kidney Disease

Please recommend a diet for a kidney patient.

My mother in law is a chronic kidney disease patient and has been given too many food restrictions, which is making her feel very low and frustrated. Could you please recommend a healthy diet for her that she can easily abide to?

Depending on the stage of the CKD, the main precaution is salt intake. If she had tendencies with elevated potassium in the blood, she also need to be moderate with taking in foods rich in potassium such as tomatoes, potatoes, oranges, bananas, watermelon, etc.
