Cardiologist Questions Chest Pain

Does a discomfort and pain in chest mean something serious?

Off late I have been experiencing a slight discomfort and a slight pain in the chest region whenever i do any form of strenuous activity like running or cycling. Could this be an indication of a serious cardiac issue? Are all chest pains an indication of a heart attack?

No all chest pains are not an indication of a heart attack....in fact a minority are cardiac in origin. However the most common cause of death in the US is cardiovascular disease so all chest pain needs to be evaluated by a physician usually by some form of stress testing. Exertional chest pain is more concerning and definitely warrants further investigation.
Yes, I would definitely want you to have a stress test and an echo. It is concerning that your symptoms occur with exertion and you may have a major blockage and should be started first on two antianginal medications to see if there is improvement of symptoms and have a stress test. Chest pain doesn't always mean a heart attack, but they can suggest a major blockage that produces pain with high demand such as exercise. Make an appointment with your doctor to discuss these symptoms.
You should not take ANY chances with this. You need to be evaluated by your doctor ASAP. If you have any symptoms at rest or any prolonged symptoms, you should go to the Emergency Room right away.
Yes it can be, depends on risk factors, but if more then 2 risks I would seek medical attention for a histor, physical, lab tests, and perhaps an echocardiogram and stress test it’s all up to the individual patient, but I would lean towards having it checked
This could be angina, due to narrowing of the coronary arteries. See a cardiologist to be safe, before you exercise again.
