“Does acupressure for weight loss work?”
I'm pretty overweight, but I want to try something to help me lose this weight. Does acupressure for weight loss work?

weight loss is complex and you will need dietary and lifestyle counseling as well as acupuncture and herbs. I encourage you to book a session with your practitioner of choice to get help with relief.

My gut feeling and best guess response to this is: a dietary change is required for any serious weight loss goals. So, it could help along with diet, sure. But by itself, with no changes on the patient's part, I'm skeptical that it would fix this by itself.
Acupressure does not involve needles, whereas acupuncture does. Both can be effective in helping to reduce weight, but I personally don’t like to market it for weight because there are many other factors involved. Acupuncture alone will not reduce weight.
Thank you for your question. Acupressure has limited benefit in weight loss, using a combination of acupuncture and herbs will help with weight loss and overall better digestion.

Not sure about acupressure, though acupuncture works. Further evidence-based research can be found on pubmed.
Good afternoon,
1. Acupuncture does really work for weight control, but not 100%.
2. Please contact your acupuncturist to discuss.

Acupressure for weight loss is best with ear seeds. We put herbal seeds on ear points with medical tape so they can stimulate hormones, digestion, and even regulate hunger. Acupuncture on the body would be recommended for weight loss. But for effective, long-standing weight loss it is recommended for lifestyle change with balancing diet and exercise.

Yes, Acupuncture can help you with weight loss work. It is not a fast process and Acupuncture will not do it for you, it is a powerful tool that can certainly help you lose weight.
Be well, be confident, we can help.

Yes but not exclusively. There are definitely points that can and will assist in the metabolism and accelerate Weightloss. Having said that, the patient must learn additional strategies to ensure success and sustainability including calorie intake management, mobility (exercise), and at least 64 oz of water daily.
There are ear points that can help with over eating, but a big part of my protocol for weight loss involves making dietary changes. It's worth pursuing since so many of the syndromes and diseases we're experiencing in our culture are a result of poor diet and being over weight. Good luck!!
Yes, acupuncture (body acupuncture and ear acupuncture) can help to reduce appetite and increase water metabolism. Patients still need to control diet with regular exercise for better results.

Acupuncture can assist with weight loss when accompanied with an appropriate treatment protocol and sensible workouts and food plan.
Acupuncture can help with digestive function, reducing cravings, increasing energy and other such things, but it cannot by itself help people lose weight. You will also have to work on a dietary level. This does not mean you need to "go on a diet" but means you need to be aware of the foods your eating because it's food that adds weight.
You would also need to be on an exercise program - nothing over-the-top, but we need to increase our activity to burn calories in addition to being aware of the foods we're eating.
Find an L.Ac. who has experience with weight loss patients and do not fall victim to any "easy fix" weight loss program, diet or pill. We really do need to create a fuller healthy lifestyle to maintain proper weight, so go to someone who can help you in the long run, not just short term.
Good luck.

If you only wish to work with acupressure, most acupuncturists will likely use ear seeds to help support you in your weight loss journey. This primarily helps with the symptoms that may cause the weight gain (constant hunger, cravings, etc.). If you are open to acupuncture, we can do a lot more to treat the root cause of why you're feeling those symptoms. Some acupuncturists will also work with dietary and lifestyle counselling to help you make better choices for your body and maintain your weight loss.
Yes, acupuncture alone doesn't help. For optimal results, it must be combined with lifestyle modifications.
Most of the literature in alternative/holistic weight loss looks at acupuncture. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a reason acupressure wouldn't work. I've utilized both acupuncture and acupressure for patients and, in my experience, acupuncture gives faster, longer lasting results.
I suspect that in order to see any benefit with acupressure, you'd need to be pressing/massaging the appropriate points at least daily if not multiple times per day. Not everyone has that kind of discipline.
I'd suggest you start with a licensed acupuncturist in your state. If needles are an issue for you, I've gotten good results in weight loss/food cravings using ear seeds. If you're not in CA, go to NCCAOM.org and use their "Find a Practitioner" look up. Call a few providers in your area and see if you can find someone who works with weight loss on a regular basis.
