“Does anti-anxiety medication change your personality?”
I am a 31 year old male and I am taking anti-anxiety medications. Does anti-anxiety medication change your personality?

The purpose of anti-anxiety medication is to reduce/manage your moderate to severe level of anxiety. For example, when the symptoms are reduced/eliminated/managed, most people are more social/ongoing due to the fear of embarrassing themselves has been reduced/eliminated. Your personality isn't going to change from one extreme to another (i.e., you will change from passive to aggressive; the change will be moderate, perhaps passive to assertive--rendering an opinion about a situation instead of keeping quite fearing making others upset, fearing verbal/physical retaliation). Good Luck
Dear Sir,
I think you are better off asking this question to the person who is prescribing your anti-anxiety medication. You may want to get a book called Anxiety and Phobia workbook by Edmund J. Bourne. He has also written a book on natural remedies for anxieties.
I hope that helps.
Take care,

Any legitimate anti-anxiety medication would not change your personality.

Some medications can stimulate or relax certain parts of your brain, so you may behave differently or feel differently, but they don’t change your personality. Changing your personality is a very conscious choice that takes a lot of practice because you’ve been you for a very long time.
