Does having hepatitis B affect your pregnancy?

I am a 27 year old female. I want to get pregnant. Does having hepatitis B affect your pregnancy?

The answer is "Yes" and "No." Are you currently a Hep B patient? If so, your titers and viral load (activity) must be monitored closely and, depending on where you are on that continuum, it may have an effect on the pregnancy (fetus).
Your baby would get ivig from the pediatrician if you had active disease. If you are just a carrier, you would be ok as well as your baby. It will not affect breast feeding.

It depends if it is a chronic versus acute infection. You can still get pregnant but you need to plan accordingly based on your infection status. Please consult your OBGyn since you are planning to get pregnant.
