Radiologist Questions Radiation Therapy

What are the early side effects of radiation therapy apart from fatigue, skin issues and hair loss?

My father has to start out on radiation therapy for his colon cancer. I want to know if there are other side effects, besides body weakness, skin changes and hair loss.

Yes, there could be other side effects, but most of the time it depends on where exactly you are getting the therapy. Some include nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, rectal bleeding, as well as incontinence
This question is better directed to a radiation oncologist rather than a radiologist.
Hair loss occurs only if hair is in the area of radiation treatment. No other early effects.
It depends on the part of the body that is receiving the radiation therapy. The radiation oncologist should be able to answer knowing the specifics of your father’s treatment.
I'm sorry to hear of that...prayers to your father and y'all. In short, depending on the location, extent of disease, and radiation dose, the side effects can be varied.

All the best,
